Pupil Premium Grant

In April 2011, the Government introduced a pupil premium to raise achievement among disadvantaged children. It ensures that the school can supply additional support and equal opportunities to every disadvantaged child to help them reach their potential. There are three categories of children that qualify for pupil premium:

  • Children who are eligible for free school meals (FSM)
  • Looked after children
  • Armed forces children

Schools must publish details of the school’s pupil premium allocation and their plans to spend it in both the current and previous year. This must include a statement of how the money was spent and the impact that it had on educational attainment of those pupils at the school in respect of whom grant funding was allocated

The Report by The Sutton Trust: The Teaching and Learning Toolkit by Professor Steve Higgins, Durham University, Dr Dimitra Kokotsaki and Professor Robert Coe, CEM Centre, Durham University was used to see which was the most cost effective way of spending our Pupil Premium.
