Fabulous Thorpe Hesley science receives national recognition.

We are delighted to have been awarded a prestigious national award for our Science Learning!

This autumn we have been awarded a Silver Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) in recognition for the fabulous science work that goes on in our school.

Thorpe Helsey’s science weeks received particular mention. This March children throughout the school embarked on Eggciting Eggsperiments, from standing on eggs to exploring how eggs could change their state

Some of Thorpe Hesley’s youngest children received special mention for their fabulous work on habitats in the garden, creating snug homes for invertebrates and monitoring the footprints of small mammals.

Primary Science Quality Awards is awarded to infant, junior, primary, middle and special schools to celebrate a commitment to excellence in science teaching and learning.  Thorpe Hesley is one of just 2000 schools to have received the award since it started in 2010.

The Primary School Quality Mark scheme encourages schools to work together and we’ve benefited from working with a group of local schools over the last year to share ideas and good practise.
